The Venue

Fruin Farm

A working farm tucked into Glen Fruin, just west of Loch Lomond. Wide skies, ancient woodland, and red squirrels in the trees. We fell for it the moment we drove down the long farm track.

A working farm in Glen Fruin

The farm has been in the same family for generations. The barn is dressed with seasonal wildflowers, lit by hundreds of candles and strung with festoon lights as the evening draws in.

Nearby you'll find Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, and some of the prettiest walks in Scotland.

Glen Fruin · Helensburgh · G84 9EE

Ceremony

Held in the long barn, dressed with eucalyptus, hydrangea and Scottish wildflowers.

Reception

Family-style supper served in the candle-lit barn. Local produce, Scottish cheeses, and far too much cake.

Outdoor space

Open meadow, fire pit, and a view across to the hills. Bring a layer for the evening.

Note on Google API: the directions links above use the public Google Maps URL format — they open in real Google Maps with current traffic data, no API key required. While you're here

Make a weekend of it

Loch Lomond is one of our favourite places in the world. If you've travelled a long way, here's what we'd point you towards.

Conic Hill

A short, sharp climb at Balmaha rewarded with one of the best loch views in Scotland. Allow two hours.

Loch cruise

Hop on a steamer from Tarbet or Balloch. Perfect for a slow morning before the wedding.

Luss village

Picture-postcard cottages, a tiny kirk, and a pebble beach. Tea-rooms galore.

Glengoyne distillery

An hour's tour and tasting at Scotland's most beautiful distillery. Book ahead.

Inchcailloch island

A tiny, wooded island reached by a five-minute ferry from Balmaha. Wild garlic, bluebells, woodpeckers.

The Trossachs

Just east of the loch — quieter, wilder, and home to red deer, ospreys and pine martens.

Did you know

Curiosities of Loch Lomond

A few things about the place that make it more than just a pretty backdrop.

Wallabies on Inchconnachan

One of the small wooded islands in Loch Lomond is home to a colony of wild wallabies — descendants of a handful released by Lady Arran Colquhoun in the 1940s. They've been hopping around in the bracken ever since.

Britain's largest body of fresh water

Loch Lomond is the largest lake in mainland Britain by surface area — over 27 square miles, dotted with around 30 islands. You can see a handful of them from Conic Hill on a clear day.

The Highland Boundary Fault

The fault line that separates the Scottish Highlands from the Lowlands runs straight through Loch Lomond — you can literally walk from one geological world into another on Conic Hill.

The capercaillie still calls here

The Argyll forests around Glen Fruin are one of the last strongholds of the capercaillie, the giant grouse whose courtship "song" sounds like a cork popping followed by sharpening knives.

Rob Roy country

The eastern shore of the loch is the heart of Rob Roy MacGregor's old stomping ground — the cave where he reputedly hid from the redcoats is still there, just north of Inversnaid.

Scotland's first National Park

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs was designated Scotland's first National Park in 2002 — 720 square miles of mountains, glens, lochs and forest, with the venue tucked right inside it.

What to wear

Dress code

Black tie optional. Think garden-party meets Highland barn — comfortable, considered, and ready to dance.

Our colours

Forest green, sage, blush, peach, soft gold and cream. Take inspiration if it helps — but please wear what you love.

Tartan welcome

Kilts, sashes, ties, scarves — wear your clan tartan with pride. If you don't have one, the Scottish Register of Tartans is a fun rabbit hole.

A few notes

  • The ceremony is indoors but the drinks reception spills outside — bring a wrap or jacket for the evening.
  • It's a working farm — heels can sink into grass, so consider a flat or block heel.
  • Tartan is welcome, encouraged, celebrated.
  • Please avoid full white or ivory.

Questions

Frequently asked

If we've missed anything, please drop us a line.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Plus-ones have been included on a guest-by-guest basis. Your invitation will say if you've been allocated one.

Can I bring my children?

We adore your kids — but we've kept the celebration mostly grown-ups-only. Children of immediate family are warmly welcome; otherwise please consider it a date night.

What time should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive between 1:30 pm and 1:55 pm so we can begin the ceremony promptly at 2:00 pm.

Will the day be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and dinner are indoors. Drinks and photographs will be outside, weather permitting — bring a layer!

Is there parking?

Yes, free parking is available on the farm. Cars can be left overnight if you'd prefer not to drive after the celebration.

What's the dress code?

Black tie optional, garden-party-meets-barn. Tartan welcome. Please save full white/ivory for the bride.

Can I take photos?

During the ceremony we'd love you to be fully present — no phones or cameras please. Snap as many as you like once we're out of the barn.

How do I let you know about dietary needs?

Please add anything we should know to the dietary field on your RSVP. We'll be in touch closer to the day if we need any more detail.

Gifts

Our registry

Your presence is the only present we need. If you'd like to mark the day with a gift, we're putting it all towards our honeymoon — somewhere with hopefully a few fewer raindrops than Scotland.

Contribution links will be added closer to the day.
